Bamboo Forest and Well-Being Spaces

Entrance

At the property entrance, simple bold elements were used sparingly to great effect.  The hero’s of this space undoubtedly being the large obelisk like Granite Boulders placed thoughtfully within a meticulously laid and maintained Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn. Their only companions being various varieties of Acer “Japanese Maples” chosen for their striking form and vibrant coloured foliage of crimson reds and light lime greens

Bamboo Forest

As you make your way down the pathway to the side of the property you find yourself bordered by a mass installation of Bambusa Oldhamii “Bamboo” chosen for it’s unparalleled ability to screen even the largest of neighbouring homes instantly.  Walking through this “Bamboo Forest” evokes an almost childlike response of wonder and connection to nature.  Being guided further down the pathway to the private yoga studio at the rear of the property there is a sense of mystery as the studio slowly reveals itself through another mass planting of Bamboo.  We wanted to create a sense that the studio was it’s own secret secluded island refuge.

Lilypad Decking

As you enter towards the yoga studio, you walk over three circular overlapping Spotted Gum Decks which create the illusion of floating on a sea of Liriope which surrounds them. The inspiration behind this design comes from the way that lilypads float on water, further reinforcing the idea of the yoga studio being it’s own island refuge.
